Application Instructions

If you have any questions when completing this application and would like assistance in person, please contact the office and speak with the Tenant Placement Worker to make an appointment.

    Please print in ink and complete ALL sections of the application, do not leave any section or question blank otherwise your application will be returned to you; if a section or question doesn't apply to your situation, please indicate with “N/A”.

    THE FOLLOWING DOCUMENTATION MUST BE SUBMITTED WITH YOUR APPLICATION IN ORDER FOR IT TO BE PROCESSED:

    1. INCOME VERIFICATION
    Copy of ALL sources of income for ALL members of the application receiving income.

    2. INCOME TAX RETURN 
    Copy of the most recently completed Notice of Assessment, Return Summary, or Proof of Income Statement for ALL members; also must include Canada Child Benefit Statement (if applicable)

    3. FIRST NATION STATUS,  METIS, OR INUIT VERIFICATION
    You must provide a copy of you and your family's First Nation, Metis Citizenship, or Inuit Status cards (both front and back).

    A housing unit shall be leased to persons of Native Ancestry, therefore applicants must be of Aboriginal Ancestry in accordance with the Indian Act, and at least half (50%) of the household must be Aboriginal.

    (Note: Persons are of “Aboriginal Ancestry” if they are Indians as defined in the INDIAN ACT (CANADA), persons commonly referred to as Indians Non-status,  Metis, or persons of the Inuit race).

    Registry numbers or letters confirming First Nation status can also be obtained from your First Nation Band Office. 

    4. RESIDENTIAL HISTORY & LATEST RENT RECEIPT
    You must provide landlord/residential history for the past two addresses, and a copy of your most current rent receipt(s). If not paying rent at current accommodations, then a letter with details from the homeowner will be required.

    5. MEDICAL DOCUMENTATION (only if applicable)
    Please have your family doctor complete the Attending Physician's Report if you are applying for housing and there are medical concerns that require special consideration, unit modification, or accessibility requests.

    6. CUSTODY VERIFICATION (only if applicable)
    You will be required to include custody verification with your application such as legal court or custody papers, a copy of the F.R.O. ruling, and/or social assistance monthly benefits stub that shows all members under benefits. 

     

    IMPORTANT NOTICE:

    Only those applications that have been completed in full, signed by the Applicant / Co-Applicant (16 years of age and older), and have provided the required documentation, will be added to the wait list and considered for approval of housing.

    As part of the application process, our office will complete an arrears check through the Province-wide Arrears Database, as well as a Landlord reference check.

    It is your responsibility to keep in touch with the Tenant Placement Worker on a regular monthly basis to ensure that your application remains active, and to provide the Corporation with any/all updates of information concerning your application within thirty (30) days (such as changes to your household members, income, or accommodations).

    It is the policy of the Corporation that all applications without activity in a six (6) months period will be changed to an “Inactive” status; after twelve (12) months, applications are removed from the Corporation's waiting list and the file is closed.
