TENANT RELATIONS WORKER


 

Native People of Thunder Bay Development Corporation (NPTBDC) is a non-profit charitable housing corporation providing safe, affordable geared-to-income housing for persons of Native Ancestry in the City of Thunder Bay. The Corporation has a housing portfolio of 239 scattered houses and apartment-type.
 

NPTBDC is accepting applications from mature, experienced individuals of good moral character for the position of Tenant Relations Worker. This position assists in the development of a good working relationship between Tenants, NPTBDC and the general community. Promotes the general welfare of Tenants by establishing a network of contacts with agencies to which Tenants can be referred. Develop workshops and/or work with the Tenants on an individual or group basis that deal with awareness of resources, home maintenance/care, and rent arrears and to assist in recognizing and addressing issues of their developmental, social, emotional, physical needs. Investigate and assist in disturbances and neighbourhood disputes when necessary.


Familiarity of the Native Culture is essential. The ability to speak the Native language would be a definite asset. Post secondary education in the social work or related field and/or a Grade 12 Diploma with a minimum of five years related employment experience, Possess knowledge of the Tenant Protection Act, Human Rights and Disabilities Act, Health and Safety etc. have excellent organizational, negotiation, communication,  interpersonal skills, tact, diplomacy and discretion in handling confidential issues. The ability to communicate the needs of low-income Native families and Elders, capable of using office equipment including computers, have literacy in the Windows environment especially Microsoft Office suite 2007. Must have a valid driver’s license and have use to a vehicle.
